None of us is as good as WE ALL TOGETHER”

Some forests may have process of desertification, while plantings may be destroyed by flooding. The result is the migration of animals and humans, lack of food, increased risk of extinction of many animal and plant species, and increasing the number of deaths from malnutrition.

Another major risk of global warming is the melting of the ice sheets of Antarctica. This melting was already happening for thousands of years by a slow natural process. But the action of man and the greenhouse effect accelerated the process and become unpredictable.

The cap of the West Antarctic ice is melting at a rate of 250 cubic km per year, raising the level of the oceans by 0.2 mm every 12 months. The melting of the cap can make the oceans rise by 4.9 meters, covering vast coastal areas and islands around the world whole. The results are also shortages of food, spread of diseases and deaths.

Global warming brings climate change, which is responsible for 150 thousand deaths each year worldwide. Only last year, a heat wave that hit Europe in the summer killed at least 20 thousand people. Tropical countries and the poor are most vulnerable to such effects.

The World Health Organization (WHO) attaches to the climate change 2.4% of cases of diarrhea and 2% of the malaria in the world. This table may be even more bleak: some scientists warn that global warming could worsen in coming decades and the WHO estimates that for the year 2030 climate change could cause 300 thousand deaths per year.

WHAT WE CAN DO?

What needs to be done to try to reduce the impact of air pollution in the environment, preventing a greater global warming, we must create a strict anti-pollution legislation, which requires the plants to install filters in their chimneys, to treat their waste and use less processes pollutants.

It would require penalties for industries that are not in accordance with the Laws;

* Control stringent fuel and on its degree of purity;

* Creation of mechanisms for control of pollution;

* On the vehicle to remove the movement of deregulation. In older models the requirement of installing special filters in the exhaust;

* Implementation of rotation of cars daily;

* Encourage people to leave their cars at home at least two days, well organized, a system of the lift and use more public transport;

* Improving the system of security and public transport;

* Collection of air conditioners, refrigerators and other products that use CFCs;

* Encouragement of research for the development of substitutes for CFCs;

* Investments in alternative energy sources and the development of new types of fuels such as alcohol plant (cars), extracted from sugar cane and eucalyptus, and vegetable oil (replacing the diesel and fuel oil for aviation), extracted from castor oil, the babassu, the soybean, cotton, palm oil and the peanut;

* Better planning of cities, seeking harmony between nature and urbanization;

* Greater control and supervision on deforestation and fires in woods and forests;

* Protection and conservation of ecological parks;

* Encouraging people to plant trees;

* Campaigns to raise awareness of the population to the risks of pollution;

* Cooperation with the authorities of environmental protection.
